Recovery and reconstruction of community water supply schemes in Kavre District

Objectives:
  • To restore or improve water supply schemes at Targeted communities.
  • To promote sustainable WASH behaviours through DRR Approach at community.
Key Activities:
  • Construction of Community water Supply Scheme.
  • Conducting Hygiene promotion sessions related to use of latrine, Hand washing, PoU, MHM etc.
  • Strengthening Technical Capacity of Water Sanitation User Committee for Sustainability of scheme.
Expected Results:
Increased capacity to improve water quality and functionality and to deliver and sustain safe water (especially schools and health care facilities).
Improved sanitation and hygiene behaviours and sector stakeholders have enhanced capacity to provide access to safe and sustainable sanitation and hygiene facilities in homes and institution.

Major Achievements:

3 water supply scheme constructed considering water safety plan from which beneficiaries are 465 (221 Male and 244 Female) of 83 Households.
465 People from the targeted communities received Hygiene messages.
40 Water Sanitation User Committee members trained on per/post construction training for sustainability of recovered/reconstructed water supply schemes including water safety plan.
6 people of selected water user communities of Kavre district trained on life skill based plumbing training.
Tool box set with 13 items plumbing materials handed over to all 6 participants.
