South Korean Ambassador Visits Panauti Municipality
On 1st October, 2024 – The Honorable Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea to Nepal, PARK, Tae-Young, along with UNICEF Representative to Nepal, Alice Akunga, recently held a discussion with the Mayor of Panauti Municipality, Mr. Ramsharan Bhandari, and Deputy Mayor, Ms. Geeta Banjara, regarding the damage caused by the heavy rainfall in Panauti Municipality from Ashwin 10 to 12, 2081 (September 26–28, 2024). During the meeting, the Ambassador reviewed the situation and discussed the recovery efforts.
UNICEF Nepal, through its implementing partner Civic Forum, is facilitating the restoration of essential water supply systems in selected flood and landslide affected areas in Panauti Municipality under the Humanitarian WASH interventions in Kavrepalanchok District, Bagmati Province Program.
As part of the initiative, hygiene materials were distributed to 149 households within Panauti Municipality’s Ward No. 11, Balthali’s Nepane Drinking Water Scheme, affected by floods and landslides. The materials were handed over through Ward Chairperson Mr. Bipendra Lama Tamang and the Chairperson of the Drinking Water Scheme, Mr. Krishna Bahadur Tamang.
