Programmes, Budget and Institutional Policies Unanimously Approved and Endorsed

Dhulikhel, Kavrepalanchok. Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (Civic Forum) successfully concluded its 21st Annual General Assembly (AGA) on 3 Ashoj 2083 B.S. in Dhulikhel on the occasion of Constitution Day. Chaired by Mr. Daya Shagar Tamang, Chairperson of Civic Forum, the General Assembly reviewed and discussed the organization’s annual programme progress, annual financial report, proposed programmes and budget for the current fiscal year, as well as institutional policies and strategic documents, and made necessary decisions.

Tribute and One-Minute Silence

The General Assembly was inaugurated by lighting 12 candles in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa District on 10 Bhadra 2083 B.S., as well as in commemoration of Constitution Day. On the occasion, heartfelt tributes were paid to those who lost their lives during different periods in the struggle for rights in the country and to those who lost their lives in the devastating Bhotekoshi flood. A one-minute silence was also observed in their memory.

Annual Programme Progress and Proposed Programmes

On behalf of the Executive Committee, Mr. Samaya Lama, General Secretary, presented the Annual Programme Progress Report for fiscal year 2082/083 B.S. The report covered programmes and activities implemented in partnership, coordination and collaboration with local governments, development partner organizations, various organizations and relevant agencies.

The proposed programmes and activities to be implemented during the current fiscal year 2083/084 B.S., in partnership, coordination and collaboration with the federal, provincial and local governments, development partner organizations, various organizations and relevant agencies, were also presented to the General Assembly.

Annual Financial Report and Budget

Ms. Karuna Shrestha, Treasurer, presented the Annual Financial Report for fiscal year 2082/083 B.S. She also presented the proposed annual budget of NPR 25 million (NPR 2.5 crore) for the current fiscal year 2083/084 B.S.

Institutional Policies and Strategic Documents

With the objective of making Civic Forum more timely, organized, capable and effective in the days ahead, the Executive Committee presented the revised and approved Slogan (Empowering Communities, Sustaining Futures), Vision, Mission, Goals, Working Strategy, Thematic Focus Areas and Core Values, along with the Administrative Policy and Procedures, 2083 B.S. and Conflict of Interest Management Policy, 2083 B.S., for endorsement by the General Assembly.

During the closed session of the General Assembly, the proposed budget, programmes and various organizational documents were discussed extensively among the participating general members. Following the discussions, the proposed budget and programmes were approved, while the various organizational documents were unanimously endorsed.

Future Direction

The General Assembly also made necessary decisions regarding Civic Forum’s future direction, programme implementation, institutional governance and organizational strengthening. The proceedings of the General Assembly were conducted by Mr. Basant Kunwar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Civic Forum.
