Nepal Earthquake Response Programmme, 2015

Objectives:
  • To provide emergency relief support to earthquake-affected households and communities in Kavrepalanchok District.
Key Activities:
  • Conducted district- and VDC-level assessments and submitted assessment reports to Caritas Nepal.
  • Distributed relief materials to selected earthquake-affected VDCs and supported Caritas Nepal in distributing WASH and food materials in additional VDCs.
  • Coordinated with district government authorities, including the Chief District Officer (CDO), District Development Committee (DDC), District Disaster Relief Committee (DDRC), and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepared recommendations for future rehabilitation activities and submitted them to Caritas Nepal.
  • Facilitated joint coordination meetings at the VDC level with VDC Secretaries, Ward Citizen Forums (WCFs), political party representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Assisted Caritas Nepal (CN) and Caritas International Member Organizations (CIMOs) in conducting joint monitoring visits in programme-supported VDCs.
  • Participated in district-level DDRC and humanitarian cluster coordination meetings and presented progress on relief support activities.
  • Took a lead role in coordinating and mobilizing volunteers for emergency relief distribution.
  • Prepared and submitted financial and narrative reports to Caritas Nepal.

Major Achievements:

Date Title
Conducted an assessment of 9,200 earthquake-affected households across 14 VDCs.
Distributed emergency relief materials in 10 hard-to-reach VDCs, including 5,843 tarpaulins, 5,843 blankets, and 500 bundles of CGI sheets.
Supported schools with 78 tarpaulins, 78 plastic sheets, 1,380 meters of nylon rope, 6 family tents, 91 bundles of CGI sheets, and 11 sets of tools.
Assisted Caritas Nepal in providing emergency relief materials to four core VDCs, including 3,357 tarpaulins, 6,714 blankets, 3,357 plastic sheets, 3,287 WASH buckets/kits, 5,765 bundles of CGI sheets, and 661 sets of tools.
Reached 39,096 beneficiaries, comprising 10,607 female, 11,277 male, and 17,212 children.
