Civic Forum for Sustainable Development (Civic Forum) is a member-based, autonomous, non-profit and non-political Nepalese NGO established in 2004 and based in Kavrepalanchok, Bagmati Province. Civic Forum works to promote inclusive, equitable and environmentally sustainable development through meaningful participation, community empowerment, and local leadership.
Our work focuses on strengthening access to essential services, building resilient communities, promoting sustainable livelihoods, advancing gender equality and social inclusion, strengthening local institutions, and supporting communities to participate meaningfully in decisions that affect their lives.
We believe that meaningful support should contribute not only to addressing immediate needs, but also to community ownership, local leadership, stronger institutions, resilience, and sustainable long-term change.

Our Thematic Focus Areas
Support to Civic Forum can contribute to our work across the following seven thematic focus areas:
- Primary Health Care, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Education
Promoting equitable access to quality primary health care, health education, nutrition, safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene services, and education, particularly for vulnerable and underserved communities.
- Social Mobilization, Local Governance, Transparency and Accountability
Strengthening meaningful community participation, social mobilization, local leadership, citizen engagement, local governance, transparency, accountability, and constructive collaboration between communities and public institutions.
- Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Environmental Management and Protection
Supporting disaster preparedness, risk reduction, climate change adaptation, humanitarian response and recovery, environmental conservation, and community resilience to climate and disaster-related risks.
- Agriculture, Food Security, Nutrition and Livelihoods
Promoting sustainable agriculture, food and nutrition security, climate-resilient livelihoods, household economic opportunities, and community-based approaches to improving food and livelihood security.
- Skills Development, Entrepreneurship and Employment Promotion
Supporting skills development, entrepreneurship, employment opportunities, vocational and livelihood-oriented training, and pathways towards sustainable income generation and economic empowerment.
- Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI)
Promoting gender equality, social inclusion, dignity, meaningful participation, and equitable access to opportunities and services for women, children, persons with disabilities, marginalized groups, and other disadvantaged communities.
- Institutional Strengthening and Organizational Capacity Development
Strengthening the capacity of community institutions, local organizations, public institutions, and other stakeholders through training, organizational development, technical support, knowledge sharing, systems strengthening, and institutional learning.
