The Trail Bridge Sub Sector Programme (TBSSP) facilitated the construction of eight new bridges (six suspended trail bridges and two steel truss bridges) with a combined length of 453.30 meters. These bridges directly benefited 2,021 households, serving a total beneficiary population of 11,311 people, including 483 Dalits, 8,684 Janajatis, and 2,144 Brahman/Chhetri/Thakuri. The newly constructed bridges substantially reduced travel time, improved year-round access to education, healthcare, markets, and government services, and promoted local economic development by providing safe and reliable river crossings. |

In response to the damage caused by the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake, the programme also carried out major maintenance and rehabilitation of eight existing bridges (six suspended trail bridges and two steel truss bridges). The rehabilitation covered a total bridge length of 466.90 meters, restoring safe access for 1,024 households with a beneficiary population of 4,623 people, including 222 Dalits, 3,179 Janajatis, and 1,222 Brahman/Chhetri/Thakuri. These interventions restored critical transportation links, strengthened the resilience of rural infrastructure, and ensured the continued mobility of local communities. |

Beyond physical infrastructure, the programme successfully mobilized and strengthened User Committees (UCs) to lead bridge implementation and management. Community participation was enhanced through social mobilization, public hearings, public reviews, and public audits, ensuring transparency, accountability, and inclusive decision-making. The programme also promoted social inclusion by encouraging the active participation of women, Dalits, Janajatis, and other marginalized groups throughout the planning, construction, and monitoring processes. |
