During the project period, the Community Bridge Building at the Local Level (BBLL) Project successfully facilitated the construction of 20 trail bridges in Dolakha District through User Committees, with a combined bridge length of 1,367.6 metres. |
| |
The completed bridges have significantly improved year-round, safe, and reliable access for 7,928 households, directly benefiting a total population of 43,991 people, including 23,315 women and 20,676 men. Among the beneficiaries, 2,859 are Dalits, 33,830 are Janajati, and 7,302 belong to Brahmin/Chhetri/Thakuri communities. The project has substantially improved access to education, health services, markets, and other essential public services while contributing to enhanced rural connectivity and livelihood opportunities. |
| |
The project supported the formation and mobilization of 20 Bridge User Committees (BUCs) with the active participation of 184 committee members, including 74 women and 110 men. The committees represented diverse social groups, comprising 13 Dalits, 148 Janajati, and 23 Brahmin/Chhetri/Thakuri members, thereby promoting inclusive participation and community ownership. |

To strengthen local technical capacity, two eight-day Demonstration Model Bridge Training (DMBT) programmes were conducted for Bridge User Committees and local bridge builders. In addition, 20 Routine Maintenance Committees (RMCs) were established, and 20 Bridge Supervisors were selected and mobilized to support the long-term operation and routine maintenance of the completed bridges. |
| |
Technical and social support was provided throughout the implementation process, including detailed surveys, bridge design, cost estimation, construction supervision, quality assurance, monitoring, and the facilitation of public hearings, public reviews, and public audits. Final technical inspections and assessments confirmed that all 20 bridges were completed in accordance with the prescribed technical standards and quality requirements. |
