Local Governance and Community Development Programme (LGCDP-II)

Objectives: The overall objective of this assignment is to implement social mobilization at the Village through social mobilizers effectively and efficiently. The specific objectives of this assignment are as follows:

  • To implement the social mobilization programme at the Ward following the approach and modality referred in LGCDP’s Social Mobilization Manual, 2071.
  • To develop capacity of social mobililzers and other Wards level stakeholders.
  • To provide technical backstopping to social mobilizers for implementing social mobilization effectively.
  • To improve the quality and effective delivery of social mobilization.
  • To improve monitoring and to assess the performance of social mobilizers.
  • To provide feed-back and suggestions to local bodies on social mobilization.

Project period: 40 months (March 23, 2015-July 15, 2018)

Project Location: 6 Wards, Bethanchok Rural Municipality and 5 Wards, Panauti Municipality at Kavrepalanchok district

Funding Partner (s): MoFALD, LGCDP II, Office of District Coordination Committee (DCC), Kavrepalanchok 

Implementation Partner (s): Rural Municipality, Municipality, WCFs and CACs

 

Major Achievements: From March 23, 2015 to present date

  • 81 WCF Formation in 9 wards of 9 VDCs.
  • The total number of WCF members is 1971 in total where 991 female and 980 male are involved. It also includes 292 dalit, 745 janajati, 934 Brahmin/Chhetri.
  • 19 CAC established in 9 VDCs.
  • The total number of CAC members is 563 in total where 535 female and 28 male are involved. It also includes 54 dalit, 425 janajati, 84 Brahmin/Chhetri.
  • Disadvantaged group (DAG) mapping was done in 9 VDCs and then the 4265 households were identified as impoverished.
  • Support for Livelihood improvement to 81 people of 9 VDCs was done in the Agricultural field of which there are 610 beneficiaries including 313 female and 296 male.
  • Under CAC's recommendation, small community infrastructures development project (which included goat farming improvement, Drinking water and irrigation, Fruit farming and poultry farming) was carried out of which the beneficiaries are 771 in total including 392 female and 379 male.
